Kelsall Wellbeing Hub
A massive ‘Thank You’ to everyone in the village and surrounding area who has supported the Kelsall Wellbeing Hub project so far, either by donations, buying Bonds or attending the many fundraising events that we have held.
Whilst the Covid pandemic has forced us to limit our activities in the community, we have been using the time to plan the next stage. Now that building work has started on the new Medical Centre and Hub and is now visible from the village green, renewed enthusiasm has resulted in the Team pushing forward into the operational stage. We have had a fantastic response from villagers wanting to volunteer in The Hub and the charity has just appointed four additional Trustees, who bring their valuable and extensive expertise to the Board. Four teams have been created to move the project from planning to operation, covering procurement, designing the schedule of events and activities to be held in the Hub, communication and media and future fundraising initiatives.
The past year has made us realise that issues that The Hub was designed to address such as social isolation, bereavement, mental health and our general wellbeing have become even more important. The doctors have expressed their concerns over the increased numbers of patients they are seeing and that the necessity for social prescribing has become even more vital in helping some of these patients. Social Prescribing is about taking a holistic approach to people’s health and wellbeing and this is exactly what our Hub will bring to the community. It will connect people to community groups and services for practical and emotional support within a friendly central location.
The PPG charity has been working over the past few months with an organisation called Healthbox to create a collaboration which will result in The Hub becoming a valuable dedicated space to address some of these problems locally.
Healthbox is a non-profit Community Interest Company based in Cheshire whose aim is to provide health and wellbeing services to all aspects of the community. Their knowledge and experience will be invaluable and we are all very excited about this partnership.
With the new Medical Centre and Wellbeing Hub starting to take on real shape, it is more important than ever that we continue to raise funds. This is partly to equip and operate The Hub but also to repay our Bondholders for the loans they so helpfully made to us back in 2019 to kick start the project.
As you can appreciate, fundraising during this last twelve months has been very challenging but we have been heartened by the number of people who have kindly offered to convert their Bonds into a full donation together with Gift Aid if eligible. Many of you have said that your Bond/s were intended as a donation when you bought them and you had actually forgotten about them.
This has been a tremendous boost to our funds and has also helped to reduce substantially the amount still to be raised. Another huge “THANK YOU” to everyone who has generously donated their Bonds.
Thank you all so much for your continued support. We look forward to hearing from you and hopefully seeing you all very soon once we can fundraise again and when The Hub is open.
