Medical Centre News
Despite the enormous challenges and restrictions arising from the Covid-19 pandemic, we are pleased to report that the GPs and Nurses at Kelsall Medical Centre have been able to continue to provide a wide range of clinical services. This has included baby immunisations, cervical smears, ECG’s, urgent and routine blood sample taking, chronic disease monitoring, routine immunisations, minor injuries and dressings. The admin, dispensary and reception team have also worked tirelessly to ensure that the continued smooth and safe running of the practice and it’s patient services has continued. All of this whilst continuing to provide another successful flu campaign for 2020. This year the flu vaccination programme, which ran in October and November, and was aimed at patients aged over 65 years and the clinically vulnerable saw in the region of 1700 patients inoculated – an impressive number. This year has seen the availability of the flu jab for those aged between 50-64 years. Over 300 patients attended the clinic held on 5th December and the nursing team will continue to offer this service over the forthcoming weeks.
We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and support staff at the Kelsall Medical Centre for all their hard work, dedication and enterprise during the last few months. The use of the Old Bank Surgery has enabled the nursing team to provide a safe and effective service to patients and has meant that the surgery staff have been able to adhere to social distancing measures at the Medical Centre, with patients being invited in for face to face appointments when deemed clinically necessary.
Current Position
Please be reassured that the GP practice remains open and functional, however the practice will be required to prioritise urgent on the day clinical needs over other routine requests and patients with non-urgent issues may encounter a delay in being seen.
Face to face consultations will continue to be available where clinically assessed to be needed.
If you need to see a GP or a nurse you will continue to be given a telephone consultation appointment in the first instance to ensure you receive the most appropriate and safest case from the clinical team. A decision will then be made as to whether:

You are asked to attend The Old Bank Surgery

Your problem is dealt with via telephone and/or video link without the need to physically attend at either of the above premises
This is a temporary arrangement until the Covid-19 emergency ceases; after which time all appointments will once again be undertaken at the Church Street Practice
